about

The roots of “1999” twist decades deep into the jangly, dramatic foundation laid by the likes of The Smiths, The Psychedelic Furs, and Echo and the Bunnymen, grasping up through the 80s and 90s right up to the turning of the millennium, when Kid A and This Is It shut down the raves, and The Phantom Menace taught us to never, ever trust movie trailers.

about

The Daily Pravda Boston, Massachusetts

Rock music, post everything. Set in Boston and sometimes the West. Q: Glam without the glitter? A: Seventies without the beards. We play both kinds of music. There's nothing else to do.

Influenced by the New Romantic Post-Punk family tree (Suede, Echo and the Bunnymen, Smiths, Psychedelic Furs), American indie (Pixies, Sunny Day Real Estate), and glam classics like Bowie and Queen.

Track Name: 1999
High life, all varieties
These times, they're yours and mine
Rich kids in our suburban dream
We come to life when we kill the lights

High life, in cars and credit cards
New York, we're killing time
She still plays it fucking hard
We come to life when we kill the lights

In the snow, the night, the rain, we’re
Shaking bones and breaking chains

Our eyes don’t grow older
Skin stays in line
Let’s kill the lights, it’s 1999

We ride ex-upper middle class
Don’t we become the night?
We still play it fucking hard
We come to life when we kill the lights

We’re younger than our parents were
From bending space and cheating time

Our eyes don’t grow older
Skin stays in line
Let’s kill the lights, it’s 1999

You taste the same
I taste the same
Frozen into sculpture
Heads melting again

We’re younger than our parents were
From bending space and cheating time

Our eyes don’t grow older
Skin stays in line
Let’s kill the lights, it’s fine because
We’re over this and sick of that
We’re satisfied can’t wait to die
Wrapped in each other
Quietly this time let's
Close our eyes and
Close the blinds and
Kill the lights
It's 1999
